Candace Hobbs, a Denton, North Carolina native, moved with her husband Jim to Oak Island September 2001. Having lived off and on in Eastern North Carolina for 42 years due to Candace’s career relocation's that included Georgia and Arkansas, she and Jim could not wait to “get back home.”
They returned to the area to open a Curves For Women franchise in both Southport and Leland. Both locations were sold in 2007. In July 2008 she accepted a position to manage The Grape & Ale that she and Jim eventually purchased in February 2009. Having retired from teaching in 2014, her husband Jim has been actively involved in the community serving on the Board for Oak Island Beach Preservation and assisting customers at The Grape & Ale.
Candace holds a BS degree in Organizational Management from John Brown University. Her career prior to Real Estate brokerage has spanned Purchasing, Sales, Marketing, and Manufacturing Operation positions with Fortune 500 Companies including Weyerhaeuser and Federal Paper Board Company (now International Paper). She has served as a board member with the Southport/Oak Island Chamber of Commerce, The Brunswick County Economic Development Commission, and also Brunswick Little Theater.
She specializes in Oak Island, Southport, St. James, and surrounding areas including Lockwood Folly and Sunset Harbor.
